Is running more included among your New Year’s Resolutions? Or losing weight?
The St. Luke’s Half Marathon is perfectly timed for such resolutions.
The April 24 race is about 16 weeks away, providing the perfect amount of time needed to train for a half marathon.
Our official training plan doesn’t start until Jan. 17, so that even gives you some time to ease into your resolutions if needed.
The St. Luke’s Half Marathon also is a great race if one of resolutions is to run your first-ever half marathon. The course is mostly flat, is diversified (both city running and beautiful parks) and is large enough to provide great crowd support but not too large that it’s crowded or overwhelming.
Can you run a 5k now? If so, you can run a half marathon in 16 weeks! Our beginner training plan starts with a 6-mile long run, while other well regarded plans – including Hal Higdon’s Novice 1 program – start with just a 4-mile long run. Hal Higdon’s plan also only requires 12 weeks of training, compared to our plan’s 14 weeks.
Whether it would be your first or 21st half marathon, there’s still plenty of time to sign up for the St. Luke’s Half Marathon!
If you resolved to run two half marathons this year, consider signing up for both the St. Luke’s Half Marathon and the Runner’s World Half Marathon in Bethlehem in October. Half & Half 26.2 runners will receive a custom two-race hoodie.
Or are you beginning runner or have resolved to get back into running after a long hiatus? There’s also the great St. Luke’s 5K, also April 24 in Allentown!
