The pasta dinner has become a St. Luke’s Half Marathon tradition, offering participants the opportunity to carbo-load before the big race day. Come join us for a delicious dinner of pastas, salads, vegetables and assorted desserts. Enjoy conversing with other runners and hearing the 2014 St. Luke’s Running Stars’ stories. The event has limited seating and sells out well in advance. Be sure to purchase your tickets with your race registration.
The keynote speaker for the 2014 Pasta Dinner is Doug Masiuk, a long-distance runner and founder of 1Run.org, a non-profit which raises awareness about type 1 diabetes. Doug was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 3. In his early 30s he decided to go out for a run and made it 1/8th of a mile when he collapsed. He continued to run and a year later was running nearly 30 miles a day and taking a quarter of the amount of insulin he previously needed. Doug continues to travel the country educating people to care for their bodies through diet and exercise.
